Fund raiser event 2003On 1st November 2003 Conservation Lower Zambezi held their first formal fund
raising event at the Holiday Inn Lusaka. The Director General of the Zambian Wildlife Authority, Hapenga M. Kapeta and the Danish Ambassador Orla Bakdal also attended with their wives. In total approximately eighty representatives of the Lusaka business community were present for the occasion which included a very moving presentation of the valuable work undertaken by CLZ in the Lower Zambezi.
The evening consisted of a dinner and quiz based on the popular "Weakest Link" format. To close the evening, an auction was held with the selling of a number of donated gifts to the diners. Everyone entered into the spirit of the evening which raised approximately $7,000 for CLZ. Although this constitutes only a small proportion of the total income required to run CLZ's operations, the establishment and development of positive relationships with the business community in Zambia further raises the organisation's positive image and profile Donations in 2001CLZ receives no funding from the Zambian Government and is completely reliant on voluntary contributions from a variety of individuals and organisations. Now more than ever CLZ needs the support of its members and the donor community. As our ability has grown, so have our expenses. A long overdue fundraising party has been arranged thanks to the superb efforts of Tracy Pieterse, Karen Clements and Siobhan Watson. CLZ is also most grateful for the support of its commercial members, its private members, and the donor community. Donating Organizations include: Royal Danish Embassy; Humba Bush Foundation; Yancey Walker Productions; Africa Wildlife Foundation. Corporate Members include: Chiawa Camp; Chongwe River Camp; Gail Marshall; Alan Watson; Safari Par Excellence; River Horse Safaris; Drifters Adventours; Kiambi Safaris; Chiftingulu Ltd; Mvuu Lodge; Royal Zambezi Lodge; Kanyemba Lodge; Gerard & Betty Carbin; Chanaka Investments; Musa Daya - Bundu Auto.
